Friends of Kendall County Animal Shelter Leadership
Our Board Members serve without compensation. Friends of Kendall County Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is 100% volunteer-run.
Every dollar donated, volunteer hour served, and item contributed helps save lives and improve the care of animals right here in our community.

Chair — Chad Schatzle
Chad adopted his first dog, Tiger, nearly 20 years ago and quickly fell in love with the companionship and unwavering loyalty dogs provide. Over the years, he has adopted seven shelter and rescue dogs and currently has four of his own.
Chad enjoys daily walks with his dogs, as well as walking the wonderful dogs at Kendall County Animal Shelter. He has also volunteered with several other rescues in the San Antonio area.

Vice Chair — Jazille “Jaz” Eilles
Jaz was educated at Newcastle University in England and has completed additional coursework in accounting and computing. Her professional experience includes work with architectural, financial planning, commercial real estate, and property management firms.
In 2007, Jaz became a board member for both the American Tibetan Mastiff Association and Tibetan Mastiff Rescue, Inc., where she served as Treasurer for both organizations.

Treasurer — Mark Anderson
Mark, his wife Gina, and their three daughters moved to Boerne in 2007. He has been an animal lover since a young age, and his passion for helping animals has only grown over the years.
After a 35-year career in medical device sales with Boston Scientific, Mark retired in 2022. He currently serves on the Board of Directors as head of the compensation committee for a publicly traded medical company.
Before joining Kendall County Animal Shelter as a volunteer in January 2026, Mark volunteered with Charming Pet Rescue for three years. He also volunteers with Hill Country Daily Bread in Boerne. Mark and Gina have three dogs and two cats, all of whom are rescues.

Secretary — Gina Anderson
Gina moved to San Antonio in 2002 with her husband and three daughters before relocating to Boerne in February 2007. While raising and homeschooling her daughters, Gina’s home was always filled with pets, including cats, dogs, a bunny, gerbils, fish, and mini turtles.
Gina and her husband have always had a heart for rescue animals. Over their 34 years of marriage, they have loved and cared for six dogs and six cats, some of whom are still with them today.
After her husband became involved with local rescues and shelters, he found Kendall County Animal Shelter and felt it was a place where he could make a difference. Gina soon joined him and now volunteers weekly.

Director-at-Large — Lisa Childs
Lisa has been a proud resident of Boerne for 14 years, where she and her husband of 36 years raised their three daughters. She previously worked as an elementary school teacher, spent time as a stay-at-home mom, and has been actively involved in volunteering within the community.
From a very young age, Lisa has had a deep compassion for animals. She is the proud mom of three dogs and one cat, and her dedication to animal welfare extends far beyond her own pets.
Over the years, Lisa has trapped and spayed/neutered nine feral cats, fostered 24 kittens, socialized them, and successfully found loving homes for each one. She enjoys volunteering in the KCAS Cat Room, where she spends time playing with, cuddling, and caring for the cats.
Lisa is honored to serve on the Board of Friends of Kendall County Animal Shelter, where she remains committed to supporting and improving the lives of animals in the community.
